Manama: Inspections conducted by the Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) have been intensified to detect workers residing illegally in the country. A number of illegal workers have been found during the continuous inspection in various governorate limits. A few employers who followed illegal practices have also been caught. The authorities aim to clean up the country’s labor scene by ending illegal employment practices.
The Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs under the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Muharraq Police Directorate are conducting the inspection focusing on workplaces and places where foreign workers congregate. During the inspection conducted in Muharraq yesterday, LMRA found people who violated immigration rules. Punitive measures including deportation are taken against those who are caught. Officials have asked the public to inform the LMRA call center number 17506055 if they notice any violations.
