The students were brought to the station from the premises of the hotel in Tangalam Junction, Kothamangalam at 12:30 last night. SFI Kothamangalam East Secretary Roshan Rennie reached the station to inquire about the abduction of a classmate named Toji Tommy. SI Mahin Salim Roshan, who had come out while there was a verbal argument with the police, dragged him inside the station and assaulted Karan. The footage was captured by SFI local leaders who were with them. Roshan, who was released on station bail, sought treatment at the hospital due to ear pain. Roshan has filed a complaint demanding action against the beaten up SI.
The police explained that the students were called to the station because of a disturbance in the hotel. Even though the commotion continued in front of the station, the police could not give an exact explanation for the beating.
