Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavuşoğlu thanks Prime Minister Lapid after he expressed his condolences on the disaster of the mine explosion in Turkey.
“Dear Prime Minister Yair Lapid. Thank you for the message of condolences in these difficult times,” Chebusholo wrote.
Earlier today (Saturday), Lapid wrote on his Twitter account, “Israel stands with Turkey after the terrible tragedy in the Bertin district. I conveyed to Foreign Minister Chabusholo our condolences to the families of the victims and the wishes of a speedy recovery to the injured. I also offered assistance from Israel in these difficult times.” .
As a reminder, at least 40 people were killed and 11 others were injured in a mine explosion in Turkey on Friday.
The explosion happened in the town of Amsara, which is located on the Black Sea coast in the province of Bertin. Dozens of people were trapped under the rubble following the incident.
Turkey’s Energy Minister, Fatih Domenez, said that the fire that broke out at the site is currently under control.
A total of 110 workers were in the mine at the time of the explosion, as informed by the Minister of the Interior, Suleiman Suilo, who arrived in Amsara to coordinate the rescue and search efforts.
At this time, the authorities have not been able to decipher the cause of the explosion. “We are doing everything we can to treat the wounded,” said the Minister of Health, Farhatin Koka. “I am praying for them.”
