More signs of the economic crisis throughout Europe. North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Montenegro and Bosnia announced that they will not compete in Eurovision 2023 which will be held in Liverpool and they will not compete against Noa Kirel. In the case of the three countries, the reason for non-participation is economic.

An official announcement was made by the local television network from North Macedonia that “North Macedonia will not compete in Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool due to financial reasons”. It should be noted that during the last Eurovision, the television network reported that it considered withdrawing from the competition. Another hint that the retirement was on the air was the announcement of the budget of the television network and the Eurovision did not appear in detail.

More in-

Bulgaria was informed by the television network, BNT, that “Bulgaria will not compete in Eurovision 2023 and it is likely that it will not compete in future competitions either. After an examination, it was decided that this program no longer arouses interest on the local network.” Bulgaria’s announcement shows a darker future for the competition in the country, but also points to whatever trend of declining interest in the competition itself.

Montenegro updated that “after an examination of the available resources, the total costs of the project and the commitments of the television network in the coming period, it was decided that Montenegro will not compete in Eurovision”. Even in Montenegro’s announcement, it can be understood that the popularity of the competition is declining and there are quite a few other issues that take priority.

Bosnia was the last, as of now, to announce that it is withdrawing from the competition. The public broadcasting network has confirmed that it too will not take part in the competition that will be held in Liverpool and that there are also financial problems involved.
