A burnt body of a man was found in the forest of Acchankulam village near Pasuvantana in Thoothukudi district. Locals informed the police of Pasuvantana police station about this.
The police arrived at the spot, recovered the burning body and sent it to Tuticorin Government Hospital for post-mortem. The police registered a case and conducted an investigation in this regard. On investigation, it was revealed that the person who was set on fire was Gnanasekar, a resident of Kuruvinattam village near Kovilpatti.
His body parts were cut and burnt, which made the police suspicious. Following this, the police went to Gnanasekar’s house in Kuruvinatha and questioned Gnanasekar’s wife Salaithrani and their 15- and 14-year-old daughters. In the investigation, the trio gave three types of reasons. Their response has been inconsistent.
When the police interrogated his wife Salaithrani for a long time, she admitted that Karthik alias Karuppasamy, a carpenter from the same town, along with her elder daughter had beaten her husband to death and set the body on fire.
Karthik and Salaithrani’s elder daughter have also confessed to the crime. Following this, the police registered a case against Karthik, Salaithrani and Salaithrani’s 15-year-old daughter and arrested them.
The police said:-
Gnanasekar’s wife Salaithrani and Karthik alias Karuppasamy have been having an adulterous relationship for a long time. It is customary for Gnanasekaran, a fishmonger, to go to Thoothukudi every night and buy fish in a mini-lorry and the next morning he goes to the villages around Pasuvanthana in a two-wheeler to sell fish.
Karthik and Salaithrani usually come home alone when they go to buy fish at night and go out for business during the day. In this situation, he has been talking to Salaithrani’s 15-year-old daughter for 6 months saying that he loves her.
When Salaidrani came to know about this, she was angry at first. Then he consented to their love, thinking that if he marries his daughter, he can be in touch till the end.
But Gnanasekaran’s relationship with Chalaithrani and his love affair with her daughter came to light a few days ago. Gnanasekaran has condemned Karthik and Salaithrani.
A few days later, Gnanasekaran saw that he was close to Salaithrani at home and attacked both of them. However, Salaithrani told her daughter, “Your father knows that you are in love. He will not let you get together as long as your father is there” and has brainwashed Gnanasekar to agree to kill her.
All three plan to kill Gnanasekaran. Three days ago, at night, Karthik had attempted to kill Gnanasekaran by driving his car on his bike through the Pasuvanthana forest path.
In that, Gnanasekaran got only a minor injury. After this, it is said that they killed Gnanasekaran who was sleeping in the middle of the night by tying his mouth with a wire and tied his body in a sack and put it in the Achankulam forest and set it on fire.
