Hobart: Zimbabwe beat Ireland by 31 runs in the Super 12 qualifier of the T20 World Cup. Batting first, Zimbabwe scored 174 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs, while Ireland managed to score 143 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Score Zimbabwe 174-7 in 20 overs, Ireland 143-9 in 20 overs.

Christopher Campher (27 off 22 balls), George Dockrell (24 off 20 balls) and Gareth Delaney (24 off 20 balls) put up a fight but at the tail end there was no one to support except Barry McCarthy (22 off 16 balls).

McCarthy’s resistance reduced Ireland’s losses. Blessing Musarabani took three wickets and Tendai Chatara and Richard Ngrava took two wickets each for Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe, who batted first, collapsed early but scored 174 runs thanks to a one-man fight by Sikander Raza (82 off 48 balls) and resistance from Madheevare (22) and Jongwe (20* off 10 balls). Joshua Little and Mark Adair Simi Singh took three wickets each for Ireland.
