The FC Barcelona player, already winner in 2021, raises the most prestigious individual award in women’s football for the second time.
Alexia Putellas enters a little more in the history of football. She is the first player to receive the Women’s Ballon d’Or twice, created in 2018. She is therefore also the first to receive it twice consecutively.
Like last year, she had a full season with FC Barcelona, despite her very serious knee injury contracted just before Euro 2022. She scored 18 goals in 26 Spanish league games, winning hands down by the Catalan club with 30 wins in as many matches. The Barcelona women, on the other hand, lost in the Champions League final against Olympique Lyonnais (3-1).
Like last year, the Kopa trophy and the Women’s Golden Ball fell into the hands of FC Barcelona (Pedri-Putellas then Gavi-Putellas).
