A big surprise was recorded this evening (Monday) at the Ballon d’Or awards ceremony held at the Chatela Theater, when Real Madrid only finished in third place in the Club of the Year title despite winning the Spanish Championship and the Champions League.
The one who won the premiere is the English champion, Manchester City, who was eliminated in the Champions League by the Blancos in the semi-finals last season. The second place was taken by Liverpool despite not winning any significant title throughout the season.
The 2021/22 season was a great one for Real Madrid, who ran alone at the top of the Spanish league while knocking off their biggest rivals in the Champions League one after another. Even so, their achievements were not enough this time.
