The boy who was under treatment died after drinking cold drink given by his classmate. Ashwin (11), a 6th standard student from Metukummal, died near Kanyakumari Kaliyikavila. Ashwin was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Neyyatinkara. The child was undergoing dialysis due to kidney failure.

A case was registered after informing the hospital authorities.

On the 24th of last month, while returning after the exam, the classmate gave Shitala a drink. After returning home, the child was vomiting and feeling unwell. He then sought treatment at a hospital in Kaliyikavila and a private hospital in Marthandam. He was admitted to a private hospital in Neyyattinkara due to sores on his mouth and tongue. The examination revealed that acid-like fluid was mixed in the body.

The boy had told the police that another student of the school gave him the cold drink. But it is not clear who that student is.
