Mumbai : BCCI Secretary Jay Shah says India will not go to Pakistan for next year’s ODI Asia Cup tournament. The BCCI secretary made this clear at the annual general meeting of the Indian Cricket Board in Mumbai. Jay Shah also demanded to find another venue instead of Pakistan to host Asia Cup 2023. Earlier there were reports citing board sources that the BCCI has agreed to send the Indian team to Pakistan. Based on this, the BCCI secretary clarified his position.

The last time India traveled to Pakistan for cricket matches was in the 2005-06 season. The last series between the two countries was held in India in the 2012-13 season. After that, the two countries only faced each other in ICC and Asia Cricket Council tournaments. The last time the two countries met was in the Asia Cup Twenty20 tournament in the UAE.

Currently, the Indian team led by Rohit Sharma is preparing for the T20 World Cup in Australia. India will face Pakistan on October 23 in the tournament which started on the 16th. The India Pakistan match is in Melbourne. Pakistan is confident of winning against India in the Twenty20 World Cup held in Dubai and the Asia Cup held last month. For the first time in history, India had to lose to Pakistan in the World Cup in the match held in Dubai.

Asia Cup runners-up Pakistan are currently trying to find more form. Pakistan won the cup by defeating New Zealand in the final of the tri-nation series held in the last few days. Meanwhile, India returned to the World Cup by winning the T20 series against Australia and South Africa at home. But India is currently under pressure after losing to Western Australia in the practice match.
