Imber was born in Jerusalem to Hiyel, a linguist. It is named after her grandfather, Shmariahu Imber, brother of Naftali Hertz Imber, the author of the words “Hatikva”. She grew up in Tel Aviv.

Imber began her service in the IDF in Nahal and following her father’s illness she was assigned to the armed forces. In 1964, she was discharged from the IDF and moved to Berkeley, California, where her sister, Tzvia, and her partner lived. After returning to Israel, she appeared in the musical “Hair” and believed that she would start an acting career. However, after completing a course in radio acting, she began working as an announcer for Kol Israel in the daily corner “Lakhkalai” When she started working on the radio, she moved to Jerusalem.

At Kol Yisrael she presented the alternative music program “Something Different” edited by Ruth Kidan as well as other music and lyrics programs. Starting in the 1990s, he announced new releases.

In 2006 she retired from Kol Israel and retired. In the years 2005-2009, she broadcast (alongside Bondi Levy) a daily program on Radio Jerusalem called “T.D. 101”, which dealt with public inquiries and complaints. With the change of owners at Radio Jerusalem, Imber stopped broadcasting on the station. In 2015, she began submitting a personal weekly program on the IDF airwaves.

I am saying goodbye in completeness, peace and ease, surrounded by support and great love. I was blessed with a wonderful family, and wonderful friends. Thank you for life with you and between you. Peace be upon you.”
