Doha: The Ministry of Interior has taken various measures to receive those arriving in Qatar for the World Cup matches. Qatar is in the final stage of preparations to receive football fans from November 1 after the end of the World Cup until December 23. The procedures for this are being carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs, security agencies and tournament organizers.

The number of passport counters at the check points has been significantly increased to enable easy entry for World Cup fans and citizens alike. Officials said that tents can accommodate 4,000 people at a time. A free transport facility has been provided from here to the ‘Family and Friends Meet and Greet Area’ at Al Qalail, which is two kilometers away from the border. You can stay here until you are picked up by relatives or friends. Taxi facility is also provided from here.

Those entering Qatar for the World Cup through the land border have been divided into different categories based on entry procedures. Also they should use the passport registered on the ‘Haiya’ platform at the time of entry. The first category includes citizens, residents and GCC nationals (cars with Qatari number plates) holding a Qatari ID card. Their admission will be normal. The vehicle they are traveling in must have a Qatar number plate.

The second category is those with special entry permits. They can enter Qatar in their own vehicle, but for this they need to obtain a special vehicle permit in advance through the Haya platform. A driver must have a minimum stay of five days in Qatar for a vehicle permit. The fee for the vehicle permit is 5,000 riyals. The third category is the fans who come to Qatar only for the one-day match. Those coming to watch one or more matches in one day can enter Qatar without prior hotel reservation. They also have free parking for 24 hours from the time of entry. But Haya card and advance booking of parking space is mandatory for this category also.

The fourth category is those who enter Qatar via buses. They must carry Haya card with them. After the entry process at the border, they can proceed to the Doha Railway Station or the ‘Family and Friends Meet and Greet Area’. The Ministry of Home Affairs has restricted the borderless entry of commercial trucks from November 15 to December 22 from 11 pm to 6 am to facilitate the transport system for those arriving for the World Cup.
