Sivagangai: The police arrested a bank manager who cheated by getting 36 lakh rupees and 50 Sawaran gold coins from a bank locker.
Allahhair Syed, 68, from Vattanam Road, Sivagangai District. He had been doing business in Singapore for a few years and came to his native Devakottai in 2021. He sold his property and deposited the money in a Bank of Baroda locker where he had a savings account.
On learning this, the bank manager Balakrishnan, 59, asked him to ‘deposit’ the money in the bank. Syed went to the bank to deposit Rs 1 crore of his money. Manager Balakrishnan said, ‘Keep the money in your locker instead of depositing it. I will give you double that’, said the desire; Syed also believed.
Then, in September 2021, he gave 36 lakh rupees, 50 Sawaran gold coins to the bank manager from the locker. He rigged it. Syed complained to Sivaganga SP. District Crime Branch police arrested Balakrishnan yesterday.
