Maccabi Haifa did not ignore the incident of throwing the ball last night (Monday) from the north stand, when Menashe Zalka went to kick the penalty kick from 11 meters to Hapoel Hadera, which of course was stopped by Josh Cohen and the champion won 0:1. The Greens located the ball thrower and are now using all means to trace the details of the case and whether he entered with a subscription in his name or purchased the ticket. The champion intends to deny that fan the subscription for life and will file a civil lawsuit against him.
Even before the Greens announced the consequences, the Israel Police announced that after the incident of throwing the ball, the police of the Haifa station carried out several investigative actions in order to find the identity of the suspect who threw the ball, and today he was detained at the station for questioning. At the end of the investigation, the suspect, a 24-year-old resident of Haifa, was removed from the football fields for 60 days.
In the meantime, four fans were caught yesterday while throwing objects at Hapoel Hadera’s goalkeeper, Robbie Levkovic, and a complaint was filed against them with the police. At the same time, a letter was sent to them informing them of the immediate cancellation of the subscription and the option to purchase tickets for the team’s games in the future. “This is a violent act, which may harm any of the players/referees who are on the field, as well as an act which harms the club’s image and finances, as well as professionally, during the normal course of the game,” the club’s official statement reads.
As I recall, during yesterday’s game there were two incidents of disorder from the crowd, when in the first half objects were thrown from the north stand at Lebkovic and in the added time of the game a ball was thrown during the penalty kick. After the game, the team made it clear that they do not intend to put this on the agenda and issued a message that is not ambiguous: “Everything is photographed and documented. We will not stop until we find that fan and permanently kick him out of the team’s games with a lawsuit.”
