Chennai to be drenched in music rain: This week’s list of events

At the end of this year’s festive season, various programs are staged to entertain the people of Chennai. Here is their list:

From classical performances by RR Sabha and Madras Music Academy to a death metal show, Chennaiites are in for a musical shower.

Dance performance by Rukmini Vijayakumar:

Renowned dancer and choreographer Rukmani Vijayakumar will stage a Bharatanatyam show titled ‘Easwara’ on October 19. The dance is centered on the Hindu gods Shiva and Parvati, and the movement will demonstrate what their forms tell us from a philosophical perspective.

Live from The Backyard:

The Madras comedy circuit is making a comeback this time with a Tamil stand-up show. Featuring comedians Yogesh Jaganathan and Guna Kannan, the show will be live on Saturday 22nd October from 4 pm onwards at The Backyard, Adyar.

Concert by Madras Music Academy:

The artistes are performing at the Madras Music Academy on October 18, 19 and 20. Veena Venkatramani’s performance and Kundurthi Aravind’s Mritanga performance on October 18; Bharatanatyam performance by KR Manaswini on 19th October. A Bharatanatyam performance by Radhe Jaggi will also be held on October 20. All the three artistes are scheduled to perform on these days from 6 p.m.

Death Metal Show:

German death metal band ‘Divide’ and Indian death metal band ‘Godless’ will perform ‘Rads of Gomorrah’ in Chennai. In 2019 the two bands toured Europe together. Catch them live at Gears and Garage Restobar on October 21 from 8pm.
