Al-Marsad newspaper: Dr. Hammam Aqil, Professor of Immunology and Infection, said that “cupping” does not treat or prevent any disease, and any medical specialty is based on proven scientific evidence, and not on opinions.
Aqeel added, in his speech to the “Ya Hala” program, on the Gulf Rotana channel: “There is nothing in science called detox, and I am surprised that this talk is marketed as scientific, or cauterization and cupping and its benefits for clots.”
He continued: “Cupping does not treat or prevent any disease, but the positive effect is only suggestion, and it affects 30% of people.”
He concluded: “For example, I gave you a Panadol pill to treat insomnia and deep sleep. You can sleep deeply, just because of your faith, but this does not apply to all people.”
