The ‘International Climbing Asia Championship’, an indoor artificial wall climbing competition, was held in Seoul, South Korea, an East Asian country.

8 players and three coaches came from West Asian country Iran. In this, Elnas Regabi, the best climbing player of the country, was also present. He has won international medals in climbing competitions.

In the competition held on the 16th, Elnas Regabi participated without wearing a cloth covering the face and head called ‘Hijab’.

Hijab is compulsory for women in Iran. There is a law which makes it compulsory for the players of the country to wear hijab even when they participate in competitions held in other countries.

Massa Amini, 22, who was arrested in Iran for not wearing a hijab, died in police custody last September. This caused great tension in Iran.

Women are taking to the streets and protesting against the Hijab Act.

In this case, climbing player Elnas Regabi did not wear hijab which caused controversy. He was going to return to Iran today, but the news was reported in the media that he was hurriedly sent to Iran yesterday.

He was also reported to have been arrested in Iran. But the Iranian government has denied it.

Meanwhile, player Regabi apologized on her social media page for participating in the competition without wearing a hijab.
