Not much reason to upgrade if you have an S22

by time news

Samsung is preparing to introduce the Samsung Galaxy S23 series and leaks are still popping up everywhere. We don’t think there will be many surprises left until release time. After all, the phones’ design was revealed and vanilla went via Geekbench to put the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 under pressure. Now, a file report confirms that the Galaxy S22 should see little reason to upgrade.

Galaxy S23 – Just a gradual evolution and design change

The Samsung Galaxy S23 will bring a second generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 processor. Yes, this is the main and most relevant difference when compared to the S22. Samsung’s premium phone has Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in some markets and Exynos 2200 in others. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, on paper at least, is a significant evolution on these SoCs. But when it comes to the rest of the specifications, we are not witnessing major developments.

Geekbench test proved that Samsung, for another year, will continue to use 8GB of RAM. While some flagships run in the 16GB region, Samsung will continue to offer 8GB like its previous three models. Unfortunately, the Korean company is really following Apple, when it comes to following hardware trends. The Galaxy S20 has a 12GB RAM variant, but apparently, this will remain in the past for the vanilla series.

Guide Yogesh Brar has shared some additional specifications of the Galaxy S23. Besides 8GB of RAM, the phone will have 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. Moreover, the new phone will have a 3900 mAh battery. That’s bigger than the S22, but less than the S21 and S20. Charging is also a disappointment for fans of fast charging technology. The company will offer 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. The company did not beat The Tragedy of Darth PlagueI mean the Galaxy Note 7 tragedy. Again, this is another aspect where Apple is conservative.

When it comes to optics, the new Galaxy S23 will have a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera. The selfie snapper is a 10MP unit which is close to the same package available with the S22 range. Anyway, rumors say that the S23 might bring some updates in its optics hardware.

The phone will have a 6.1 inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with Full HD + resolution. According to IceUniverse, the edges of the phone will be slightly thicker. Moving to the rear, the main change was – the design of the S22 Ultra-esque. According to the leaked renders, Samsung is bringing the entire lineup to the same design. The camera island is gone, instead, we will have individual holes for each camera. So the Galaxy S23 will have the same specs as its predecessor, but with a different chassis.

S23 Ultra is the true flagship

Every year, Samsung makes it clear – the real flagship is the Ultra. Although the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus are here to complete the lineup and provide more versatility, the biggest advances in hardware will always come within the Ultra. Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will be no exception. The phone has a bigger battery and faster charging. It’s 45 watts, not the fastest standard available, but still the fastest for Samsung.

The camera department also gets more love. In addition to the capable assistive cameras, the Galaxy S23 Ultra will come with a 200MP main camera. According to rumors, this particular camera is not the same as the one in the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra or the Xiaomi 12T Pro. Samsung may use an entirely new sensor for its flagship.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra is the most relevant player, just like the iPhone 14 Pro Max for Apple. Likewise, it is also the most expensive option. So, in the end, the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus are extra offers for those who want a new Samsung flagship but don’t want to push the price cap.
