Telegram founder Pavel Durov has warned of a security issue in the WhatsApp application that allows hackers to access the entire data of users of the application via phones.
Durov said: “There is a security problem in the WhatsApp application that enables hackers to access the entire personal data of users of the application via phones, and this can be done by sending a video clip containing malicious software or answering a video call.”
He added: “Internet hackers can access everything that is in the phones of WhatsApp users, and this became possible thanks to a security problem that the company revealed last week. WhatsApp from 13 years ago became a tool for monitoring users, such problems appeared in the application between In 2017, 2020, and 2016 this app had no data encryption at all.”
Durov pointed out: “Even after updating WhatsApp to the latest version, there is a risk that the user will be exposed to a cyber attack.”
It should be noted that the Russian Consumer Protection and Supervisory Authority had warned Russian citizens in 2021 not to adequately protect data in the famous WhatsApp application.
