The EU has already saved that much gas

In the first half of the year, the EU countries consumed more than six percent less gas. Some countries, including Hungary, are lagging behind.

In July, the EU member states agreed to save a total of 15 percent of their gas consumption by the end of March 2023 compared to the average of the past five years. According to initial calculations, the ambitious goal could be achieved or even exceeded. According to an evaluation by Agenda Austria, the member states together saved 6.2 percent on gas in the first half of the year.
