Despite Western sanctions, Kremlin spokesman’s wife vacations in Israel

Tatiana Navka, the wife of Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, was seen in Israel where she has just spent a few days of vacation, and this “despite the sanctions imposed on the family by the West” since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, reveals the English version of the Israeli news site Ynet.

According to information from the non-governmental organization (NGO) Israeli Friends of Ukraine, this former figure skater, crowned Olympic champion in 2006, spent the last few days at the David Hotel Kempinski, one of the most prestigious hotels in Tel Aviv.

Like her husband and other Russian political figures, Tatiana Navka is subject to sanctions, notably from the United States and the European Union, taken a few days after the start of the Russian offensive against its Ukrainian neighbor , on February 24.

The presence in Israel of Tatiana Navka, who allegedly owns companies and assets in Crimea, illegally annexed by Russia in 2014, angered the NGO’s co-founder, Anna Zharova:

“On the one hand, Israel still makes it difficult for refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine to enter the country. And on the other, it allows Putin’s collaborators to stay there, to sunbathe by the sea and enjoy life, while Ukraine and its inhabitants are being bombed. […] This is absurd, Israel’s position towards Russia must change.”

This information arises, emphasizes The Jerusalem Post, “as Israel faces criticism for being too soft on Russia” et “for not supplying weapons to Ukraine”.

Since the beginning of the war, Israel has welcomed many Ukrainian Jews, but also Russians, on its territory. So far, the Israeli authorities, who maintain close relations with the Russian authorities, have limited their cooperation with Ukraine to humanitarian aid and deliveries of non-lethal material.
