Tunis,

Tunisia, one of the North African countries, has been experiencing a severe economic downturn for the past few months. To overcome this, the country’s government has requested about 2 billion dollars in loan assistance from the International Monetary Fund.

Meanwhile, due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, fuel import has been affected, and there is a severe fuel shortage in Tunisia. Due to this, the normal life of the people of the country has been greatly affected. The country’s labor union has announced that it only has a week’s worth of fuel in stock.

More than 20 lakh motorists are affected due to shortage of petrol and diesel. Long lines of vehicles line up to fill up at gas stations in the capital, Tunis.

Meanwhile, the data shows that only one-third of Tunisia’s total oil demand is produced domestically, with only 35,000 barrels of oil being produced per day.

But with 90,000 barrels of oil needed for daily consumption, economists have warned that fuel supply shortages in Tunisia could last for several weeks if the government does not make the necessary financial allocations for fuel imports.
