Dubai: The UAE is home to the best research institutions in the Arab region, a new global study has found. The QS World University Rankings revealed that the Gulf region is leading advanced research. According to the report, Khalifa University and the British University in Dubai have achieved more in the field of research. The report was prepared based on 199 universities in 18 countries.

According to the report released on Wednesday, the University of the United Arab Emirates is the highest ranked institution in the country. However, the university is ranked sixth in the list, one rank lower than last year. Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz University has been named the best university in the region for the fourth consecutive year.

Qatar University won second place and Saudi King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals third place. Three universities in the UAE have made it into the top 10 in the Arab region, while 10 universities have made it into the top 50. Khalifa University of Science and Technology has improved from ninth position to seventh position in the 2022 ranking.

However, the American University of Sharjah, which was ranked eighth last year, is ranked ninth in the latest list. QS Senior Vice President Ben Souter, who led the preparation of the report, said that the UAE has become an attractive higher education destination for both teachers and students internationally.
