This news comes after ‘Bloomberg’ shared last month, the same month in which the new ‘smartphones’ were presented by Tim Cook, that the apple company had stopped the manufacture of up to 6 million terminals due to the fact that the demand would be insufficient.
According to ‘The Information’, which cites sources in the supply chain, Apple would have asked one of the manufacturers in China to completely stop the production of components for the iPhone 14 Plus. Two others, responsible for the manufacture of a specific module for this device, are also cutting their production by 70% and 90% respectively.
It should be remembered that the new terminals, which have maintained their price in the United States, are forcing the European user to scratch his pocket. Currentlybuying the most basic iPhone 14 requires the payment of at least 1,009 euros. In the case of 14 Plus, a terminal that only differs in that its screen is larger, 6.7 inches, the price starts at 1,159 euros.
Less than Pro models
Considering that most of the novelties that the new Apple mobiles have received are only present in the Pro models, with prices that can easily go above 2,000 euros, many analysts they already expected that the iPhone 14 would not receive a great interest by consumers.
That was the case, for example, of the well-known analyst Ming Chi Kuo, who already drew attention, just by looking at mobile reservations, about the waiting times that buyers of an iPhone 14 Pro had to assume -who moved in around a month-compared to what is necessary to acquire the 14 dry. Everything indicated, even before the mobiles went on sale, that the interest in each of the models was going to be very unbalanced.
According to ‘The Information’, Apple would not be considering abandoning the Plus model in the next family of terminals iPhone 15, which will not hit stores, according to tradition, until September 2023. The apple company has already given its Mini models a second chance in the past. Precisely the same ones that were replaced in the iPhone 14 shortlist by the Plus.
