Geelong: Sri Lanka in the Super-12 with their second consecutive win in Group A in Twenty20 World Cup. Lankan won by 16 runs against Netherlands. Vanindu Hazaranka took three wickets for 28 runs in 4 overs to beat the Netherlands, who went into bat in search of a target of 163 runs, and Lanka reached the score of 146/9 in 20 overs. Max O’Dowd’s one-man fight with 71* off 53 balls was wasted. Mahesh Tishna, Lahiru Kumara and Binura Fernando took two wickets each for Sri Lanka. Kushal Mendis (79) scored a half century and was the star of the game.

In reply, Vikramjeet Singh opened the batting with 7 off 14 balls but fellow opener Max O’Dowd struggled at one end. Only captain Scott Edwards, who scored 21 runs off 15 balls, provided excellent support to Max, and the Netherlands faltered. The Lankan bowlers made the match exciting with wickets at regular intervals. Colin Aukerman was out for a golden duck, Tom Cooper for 16 off 19 balls, Tim Pringle for 2 from 4 balls and Tim Vander Gugten for a Dolden duck. Fred Klassen (3 off 3 balls) and Paul Van Meekeren (0) were the other scorers. Vander Merwe (0*) remained unbeaten with Odaud.
