Cholera in Haiti – Health priority

On October 2, the World Health Organization issued an epidemiological alert concerning the resurgence of cholera in Haiti.

During epidemiological week 39 of 2022, health facilities located in certain sectors of the communes of Port-au-Prince and Cité Soleil reported an increase in cases of severe acute diarrhea among hospitalized patients, including children and the adults.

As a reminder, cholera is a waterborne disease that causes acute and possibly fatal diarrhea if not treated within the first few hours. What are the signs of cholera? Where does this new strain come from? How to eradicate cholera?
