Workers at the Lil’ Blessings care and learning center in Hamilton, United States, tried to scare some children who they thought were “bad,” it was revealed in a particularly disturbing video recording that prompted the state Department of Health and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office to open an investigation, which ended with five people being charged.

Employees Sierra McCandless, Aussie-Anna Kilburn, Jennifer Newman and Shane Shelton were each charged with three counts of child abuse, WTVA reported. Tracy Hutson is facing charges of failure to report abuse and simple assault against a minor.

The owner of the facility, identified in state documents as Sheila Sanders, previously told the Monroe Journal that she fired those involved after learning of the incident. Sanders said a similar incident was also recorded in September, but she did not know about the incidents until the video surfaced on social media.

One employee – who identified herself as CeeCee – claimed the act was not “malicious”. She explained: “It wasn’t meant to hurt anyone and it wasn’t malicious,” she said in a video shared on Facebook, according to the Daily Mail.

“The teachers asked me if I would do it or if they could use (the mask) to make their class listen or clean up. I don’t abuse kids,” she said, adding that she made her plan to scare the kids known to other staff members, but didn’t disclose it to Sanders .
