Intel gaming GPU? This may sound like a slander, but the new Arc chipset line proves otherwise. In fact, we’re so impressed with Intel gaming graphics cards that we’re calling the “right GPU at the right time” with excellent 1440p performance, competitive ray tracing and fairly reasonable pricing. They even – dare we say it – work well with AMD Ryzen processors.
But there’s a small catch: if you want full performance, you’ll need to make sure the Resizable BAR is enabled. In fact, Intel has openly stated that Arch GPUS should use Resizable BAR (abbreviated as Intel Rebar) to adequately optimize games. If you’re a new Arc GPU owner, here’s how to use ReBAR.
The resizing bar stands for Resizable Basic Title Records. It is an optimization technology that gives processors more efficient access to VRAM on graphics cards. This leads to performance improvements for certain types of games as it reduces CPU bottlenecks. Available as a resizable stripe on the latest Nvidia Smart Access Memory cards for new AMD GPUs, it’s now ReBAR for Intel’s Arc line.
We have a more complete guide to what ReBAR is and how it actually works, but the bottom line is that it will make some games, especially memory-intensive ones, work better on your gaming rig. This is especially noticeable in loading screens, switching scenes, and similar situations.
With Intel’s recommended use of armature bars, our reviews of Arc cards found enough performance improvements to consider the necessary system.
Step 1: Check if you have a supported app. Only specific apps can use resizable BAR features. The good news is that many chips from the past few years are compatible with it. This includes most 10th generation or later Intel chips, and most Ryzen 3000 chips (except 3000G), 5000 and 7000. If you’re not sure, check for compatibility with your specific application.
Note that motherboards require a full-size PCI Express 3.0 slot or a newer x16 slot for ReBAR. This is not a big concern if you already have a compatible app, but if you have a personal system, you should check your connections.
Step 2: If you haven’t already, install the Intel Arc GPU and download the necessary drivers. Intel’s control software may provide you with notifications regarding scalable BAR support at this time, which may help confirm your condition. Once you confirm that the GPU is working properly, restart your computer and press destroy A key during startup to enter BIOS / UEFI.

The fourth step: Here’s where things vary a lot based on the ingredients you’re using. Different PC manufacturers use different words for the same thing and bury the options in different menus. This means doing some research or checking your motherboard manual. Ultimately, you are looking for these two important settings:

Sixth step: Now reboot from UEFI.
