  • The hacker group Black Reward demands the release of all political prisoners in Iran.

  • By this they mean people who were arrested during the protests surrounding the death of Mahsa Amini.

  • On Friday, the hackers threatened the regime with making secret nuclear documents public if they didn’t comply with the demand.

Iranian hacker group Black Reward began releasing a series of documents about Iran’s nuclear program on Saturday. The group had given the Iranian regime a 24-hour deadline the day before: should the Islamic Republic not release all political prisoners and detained demonstrators who were arrested during the ongoing protests after Mahsa Amini’s death, the group will publish the documents on its Telegram channel.

“Oh god, it’s actually happening,” says a woman in a TikTok video while showing screenshots of the documents. Among the secret files are video footage showing a nuclear power plant in an unknown location.

“24 difficult hours begin for the Islamic Republic”

Black Reward claimed on Friday that it had hacked the Iranian nuclear power plant production and development company’s email system. The hackers threatened to release the documents if the government didn’t stop cracking down on demonstrators. “From this moment on, 24 difficult and important hours begin for the Islamic Republic,” the hacker group wrote on Twitter.

“The released documents contain the contracts of Iran’s Atomic Energy Production and Development Company with domestic and foreign partners, management and operational plans of the power plant in Bushehr province, identity data and payslips of engineers and employees of the company, and passports and visas of Iranian and Russian specialists of the power plant,” Black Reward shared on social media.

According to the portal «i24news», the hacker group is said to have secured 324 e-mail correspondence, and the hacked files weigh around 50 gigabytes in total. However, what was published on Saturday was “a small part” of the archive, the Union for Secular Republic and Human Rights in Iran (USRHR) wrote on Twitter, an organization that supports new civil movements in Iran.

“Unlike in the West, we don’t flirt with criminal clerics, and if we promise something, we keep it 100 percent,” says the hacker collective.
