The T20 World Cup series has been successfully concluded in the United Arab Emirates. Neither India, Pakistan, England nor the West Indies, who are seen as teams likely to win this World Cup, have won the trophy.
Australia wins T20 World Cup for the first time. England and Pakistan advanced to the semi-finals. But India and the West Indies were disappointed to be knocked out in the Super 12 round.
Due to defeats to Pakistan and New Zealand in the first 2 matches of the series, the Indian team was unable to advance to the semi-finals despite a huge victory in the next 3 matches.
Eleven former players have been selected as the best players in the T20 World Cup series. Former Indian batsman Deeptas Gupta has also picked his best eleven.
Most people chose the opening pair of David Warner – Jose Butler or Jose Butler – Baber Assam. But Deeptas Gupta, who came from the ICU and risked his life to play for Pakistan in the semi-finals, chose Mohammad Rizwan and his opening partner, Babur Assam, who scored the most runs (303) in the series.
Deeptas Gupta, who selected Jose Butler in the 3rd row and Sri Lanka’s Sarith Asalanka in the 4th row, has selected Moin Ali, Namibia’s David Weiss and Sri Lanka’s Vanindu Hasaranga as all-rounders. Rashid Khan, who has done his job as usual for the Afghan team, has been selected as the spinner and Enrique Norgay and Trent Bolt as the fast bowlers.
Deeptas Gupta has overlooked David Warner, the man of the series who led Australia to a 289 – run victory in the T20 World Cup, and Hazelwood, who played a key role in bowling for Australia.
