The preparation of the police for the revelry of Shimon HaTzadik, 2018

The Jerusalem District of the Israel Police has completed its preparations for the celebration of Shimon HaTzadik, which will be held at the tomb of Shimon HaTzadik in Jerusalem. The revelry will begin on Sunday evening (23.10) and continue until Monday (24.10).

Dozens of police officers of the Jerusalem district and security guards, assisted by bouncers, will be deployed in the area and in the tomb complex itself, to maintain public order and security, and to regulate and direct traffic, while minimizing damage to the routine of life as much as possible and with the aim of allowing the safe arrival and departure of the public expected to visit the tomb complex during the days of revelry.

Starting from Sunday evening, throughout the night until Monday evening, the police will prepare and operate to maintain order and security in the area.

Traffic regulations:

Starting today at 3:00 p.m. until tomorrow at 9:00 p.m., Derech Nablus Street, Othman Ben Affan Street, Ivan Valid Street will be closed to traffic alternately, depending on the traffic congestion in the area, and public transportation will be directed to Haim Bar Lev Road. In addition, private vehicles will not be allowed to enter the grave area.

The deployment of the Israel Police will focus on the routes leading to the Tomb of Shimon the Tzadik complex, and the presence of police forces in the area will be increased to maintain the safety of visitors, maintain public order and direct traffic, with the aim of making it easier for the public who come to the revelry and to prevent traffic congestion at the entrance to the site.

The police call on the participants of the revelry and the entire public to obey the policemen’s instructions, to avoid any manifestation of physical and verbal violence and to allow the event to take place as a safe experience, and with full care to maintain order and the provisions of the law. We also call on the general public to be patient and obey the instructions of the police officers in the field, to use alternative routes and public transportation services. The driving public is advised to use the navigation software.
