‘Best police here, don’t be fooled by isolated incidents, strict action’

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that Kerala is the state that implements the best policing in the country. The Chief Minister also clarified that we should not try to undermine the police by highlighting some isolated incidents. The response was through Facebook.

This achievement is a part of LDF government’s different and popular policing policy. The Chief Minister added that the government is not ready to accept isolated attempts to subvert these policies and reputation, nor to allow isolated misbehavior within the force.

“During the last six years, there has been a huge reduction in the number of criminal cases in the state. Kerala has become a law and order state due to the intervention of the government with willpower. Kerala Police ranks first in the country in terms of crime investigation excellence. It is also far ahead in terms of efficiency.

Whenever attempts at communal polarization took place, the police was able to intervene by upholding secularism. The police also joined hands with the people in disaster prevention and rescue operations. It is a serious matter that even with a long list of achievements, there are some incidents that do not go well with the credit of the police. Those who engage in such isolated acts are bringing disrespect to the Kerala Police.

No kindness will be shown to them. A flawless investigation will be ensured. Those found guilty will not have a place in the force. Maximum disciplinary action will be taken. Any move to degrade the Kerala Police with its excellent record in the public eye will be dealt with sternly. What the police need is a popular face and character. Attempts to defame it will not be tolerated. Strict action will be taken against the senior citizens.

I cannot agree with labeling the police because of isolated incidents. The Chief Minister said, “We should not expect any kind of sympathy from the government for the policemen who engage in activities that directly or indirectly lead to such labeling.”
