Australia plans to increase penalties against companies in cases where customers’ personal details are stolen in cyber attacks.

The personal details of millions of Australians have been stolen in the past few weeks.

Last month, Singtel-owned Optus was the target of a cyber attack in Australia.

About 10 million customers’ personal details were stolen.

This month, Australia’s health insurer Medibank Private suffered a cyber attack.

Personal information including medical details of 100 customers were stolen.

Fines of up to two-quarters of a million Australian dollars are imposed on companies whose personal details are leaked.

It is planned to raise it to 50 million Australian dollars.

The Australian government said it was the company’s duty to protect customers’ personal information when making a purchase.
