Doron Sheffer and Oded Katash will enter the Hall of Fame (Maccabi Sal’s official website)
Doron Sheffer and Oded Katash, one of the great duos in the history of Israeli basketball and Maccabi Tel Aviv in particular, who over the years have been nicknamed ‘Katashfer’ – will enter the Maccabim Hall and a festive ceremony will be held in their honor before the game against Monaco in the Euroleague tomorrow (Wednesday, 21:05).
The two will enter the club’s Hall of Fame. The pair of guards led the Yellows and swept them across the floor over the years. Sheffer joined Maccabi Tel Aviv in the summer of 1996 – and immediately became a key factor on the way to winning four championships and three trophies in the 11th yellow jersey.
Oded Katash joined the club’s youth department at the age of ten and from a young age appeared to be a great promise and was even promoted to the seniors at a young age and played in the uniform of the Maccabi South daughter team. After the loan seasons in Ramat Gan and the Upper Galilee, he returned to Maccabi and as Guy Goodes’ replacement, he became a star in his own right. Katsh assisted Maccabi on the way to three championships and two trophies with the number 10 in yellow. Later he also served as the head coach of Maccabi.
