BDA: The hard worker of Netivot has passed away

The city of Netivot today lost one of the most important rabbis who served in the city, the tzaddik rabbi Azriel Atia ztzel, one of the greatest disciples of the sages and zealots, who died at the age of 65 after suffering great pain. His funeral will be held tonight at the Netivot cemetery

Baruch Dayan the truth: Rabbi Azriel Atiya ztzel, rabbi of the city of Netivot, has passed away, and he was 65 years old at the time of his death after suffering through suffering and accepting it with love.

On the eve of Simchat Torah he was admitted to the ‘Soruka’ hospital in Be’er Sheva, where his condition knew ups and downs until this afternoon his body systems collapsed and he returned his soul to its creator.

The late deceased was born in Kiryat Ata in the year of Shebat 1777, to his father, Rabbi Eliyahu Atiya, who died, and to his mother, Marat Kochva Shethai.

By choice he studied at the Purat Yosef yeshiva in Jerusalem where he was close to the head of the yeshiva Hacham Shalom Cohen zt’al, president of the Council of Torah Sages.

After his marriage with his wife Mrs. Michal Shethai’ nee Alfasi, who was a daughter and cook for Sadna ‘Baba Sali’ zt’al and to this day cooks for his wife Rabbi Simi Shethai’ and together they built their home in the southern city.

He was a total scholar of the ‘Baba Sali’ ZIA workshop for forty years including one that was opened especially for him, for twenty years he taught the regular class at the ‘Maorut Natan’ Synagogue in Netivot, he would give his life for the class.

His whole life was one division of Torah and work, he abandoned this world and knew nothing of the world’s evils, he was only a man of Torah and Halacha, many would come to consult him. The rabbi ran away from all possible publicity and was always walking by the side of the road.

He was devoted to Rabbi Moshe Abu Hachira Shalita until the very end, even though he was younger than him at the time, and he would try to pay close attention to his weekly lessons.

He left behind a blessed generation of righteous people, 13 children, sons and daughters, sons-in-law and descendants who continue his special path in learning the Torah.

The funeral procession tonight at 10:00 pm at the cemetery in Netivot, where Yeatman will be.
