Study reveals who loses weight faster: men or women?

A study, conducted by researchers at the University of Sydney’s School of Medicine and Health, revealed that there are differences between men and women in the ability to lose weight.

Men store fat in the abdomen, while women store fat in the hips and thighs, sometimes giving them a plumper appearance than men.

The British newspaper, The Telegraph, which published the study, said that the success of women in losing weight and getting rid of obesity requires taking medications to lose weight, and without that they are less able to follow a diet compared to men.

The researchers gave the group the drug “semaglutide” for weight loss for more than a year, and discovered that women lost an average of 18 percent of their weight compared to 13 percent in men.

The study showed that men were more able than women to follow a traditional diet to lose weight.

It is reported that previous studies published in webmd, medicinenet revealed that men usually tend to lose weight faster than women, due to hormonal and muscle reasons.

Women’s estrogen levels store body fat, and women tend to carry 6 to 11% more body fat than men, depending on physiology, while testosterone helps men lose weight.

Muscle mass also plays a big role in helping to burn fat, and raise levels of metabolism in the body. Because women have lower muscle mass than men, it is difficult for women to lose weight faster than men.
