The genetic test revealed an alarming finding

Another drama in the insemination failure at Assuta Hospital in Israel: The genetic test revealed that the couple who claimed a genetic link with the fetus, are not her biological parents. The alarming meaning is that as of now the biological parents of the fetus that should come into the world in a short time are unknown.

Additional tests are expected to be performed on other couples who are likely to be the biological parents. The pregnant woman is already staying in the hospital in preparation for the birth, and the situation may get even more complicated after the birth.

Judge Hani Shira, who summoned the parties to deliver the results of the decision in the Family Court, wrote: “I summoned the parties’ attorney to Ulami urgently, in light of the fact that the opinion of the director of the tissue classification unit at Sheba Hospital, Dr. Ron Levantal, was received, and from it that the tests that were carried out ruled out the possibility of the genetic motherhood and paternity of respondents 3 and 4 in relation to the fetus carried by respondent 1.”

The couple whose biological parentage was ruled out have already announced that they will not request further tests.

Masuta, the Chief of Police, said in response: “From the moment word of the unusual event became known, Assuta worked with the best IVF experts immediately, in order to locate with a high degree of probability the parents of the fetus. The test indicates that it is not the biological mother, as the initial mapping suggested. A team of senior experts will sit down in the coming hours to learn the meaning the results and Assuta will take necessary actions accordingly. In any case Assuta will continue to act for the public interest with full transparency and coordination with the Ministry of Health.”
