‘Kantara’ song caught in plagiarism controversy; Thaikudam Bridge ready for legal action

Kannada film Kantara’s song ‘Varaha Roopa’ caught in plagiarism controversy. Leading band Thaikudam Bridge came forward with allegations that their song ‘Navarasa’ was copied in the same step. The band made the allegation through a social media post. Pointing out that there was a blatant violation of copyright laws, the band said that they will take legal action against those responsible.

‘We want the audience to know that Taikudam Bridge has nothing to do with Kantara. Some inescapable similarities are found between Navarasam and Varaha form. This is a blatant violation of copyright laws. Legal action will be taken against those responsible. Kantara’s backers have not claimed any rights to us in the song. No approval has been received. Moreover, the makers of the film are promoting it all over as their own work. We are hoping for listeners’ support. Request you to spread the word’.

At the same time, Kantara’s music director B. Ajneesh Loknath came to the scene in response to the plagiarism controversy. He said that it was not copied and the song has similarities because it is the same raga. Sai Vignesh has sung the song for the film. Within days of its release, the song got more than one crore viewers.
