Coimbatore > Five persons arrested in Coimbatore city fatal car blast case. Those arrested are Muhammad Azharuddin, Muhammad Riaz, Muhammad Nawaz Ismail, Brice Ismail and Muhammad Tohalka of Ukkadam CM Nagar. Jamisha Mudeen, a native of Ukkadam, died in a car explosion on Sunday morning. Security has been tightened in Coimbatore following the incident. NIA has taken over the investigation of the case.

The explosion took place near the Ukkadam Kottai Eswaran Temple on Sunday morning. One of the two cylinders in the car exploded. In the explosion, the car was split in two and completely burnt. The police is investigating whether there is any terrorist connection behind the incident. Jamisha Mubeen, an engineering graduate, was questioned by the NIA in 2019 due to allegations that he had links with IS.

According to the police, Jamisha drove near the Mubeen temple with both the gas cylinders open. One of these exploded. After the incident, materials used to make bombs were also found in his house. Potassium nitrate, aluminum powder, sulfur etc. were found. Forensic experts have found nails, iron sheets and pieces of marble in the blasted car.
