Dubai: Health insurance is mandatory for new visas in the UAE. Henceforth insurance details must also be provided while applying for the visa.
Health insurance is mandatory for new visas as per the new visa rules that came into force in the UAE earlier this month. Documents of insurance cover from recognized companies in the country must be submitted along with the visa application. Health insurance is mandatory for multiple entry tourist visa, entry visa for goods vehicle drivers and visa for treatment.
But health insurance is exempted for job seeker visas and business visas. But they have to pay 120 dirhams as insurance amount along with the visa application. Golden visa holders and their family members must be insured.
Visa applications without insurance details will not be accepted. The insurance cover should be in place till the expiry of the visa period. Insurance companies in the country are making packages available according to the new visas.

Visit visas can be renewed up to seven days before expiry; Insurance is mandatory
Riyadh: The Saudi Passport General Directorate has stated that visit visas for individuals can be renewed up to seven days before their expiry date. Visa extension can be done through the ‘Abshir’ account of the sponsor (individual or organization) who has taken the visit visa.
Meanwhile, valid health insurance is mandatory to complete the visa renewal process. Visit visa cannot be extended beyond six months. If you want to renew your visa three days after the expiry date, you will have to pay the late extension penalty.
A visitor visa cannot be converted into a residence visa. Although the sponsor who has obtained a visit visa has to pay fines related to traffic violations, there is no hindrance in renewing visit visas through the ‘Absheer’ platform. Similarly, the directorate clarified that the visit visa can be renewed even if the sponsor’s iqama period is over.
