by time news

Chennai: The final solar eclipse of the year was visible in Chennai for 30 minutes. A large number of people watched and enjoyed it at the Birla Planetarium. The largest and final solar eclipse of 2022 occurred yesterday. Meteorologists have said that this phenomenon is likely to be visible only partially in India. Accordingly, the public saw it yesterday in Tamil Nadu and western parts of India. Eclipses occur when the Sun, Moon, and Earth are in a straight line. If the shadow of the moon covers the sun, it is called a solar eclipse, and if the shadow of the earth covers the moon, it is called a lunar eclipse.

An average of 4 eclipses occur annually. In that sense, it is the last solar eclipse of the year. Since this solar eclipse can be seen in the evening in Tamil Nadu, arrangements were made for public viewing at the Birla Planetarium in Chennai. As it was a holiday yesterday, public and school students gathered in the planetarium and the solar eclipse was shown through the black glasses arranged for the purpose and the image of the sun was projected onto a white screen. Yesterday in Chennai, it started at 5 pm and was seen till 6.35 pm.

Tamil Nadu Periyar Science and Technology Center officials said: The global solar eclipse started at 2.19 pm on Tuesday and lasted till 6.32 pm. It has been found in southern parts of Russia, Kazakhstan, European countries, North Africa, Middle East and parts of Asia. At that time no total eclipse occurred in any part of the world. At most, the moon covered 80 percent of the sun in central Russia alone.

As far as Tamil Nadu is concerned, the eclipse was visible only from 5.14 to 5.44 pm when the sun set in the sky yesterday evening in Chennai. Only a maximum of 8 percent of the sun was obscured. A similar phenomenon can be seen in the cities of upper India. Many people watched the solar eclipse yesterday by wearing light-reducing glasses and projecting the sun’s image onto a white screen. After this, there will be a total lunar eclipse on November 8. It will be visible in Tamil Nadu as a partial lunar eclipse for a few minutes.
