I.F.G.T.P., Agreement with Bangalore Company Dinamalar

Coimbatore: The Institute of Forestry and Tree Propagation (IFGDP) has signed an MoU with a Bengaluru-based company to supply new teak saplings to farmers.

The Institute of Forest Genetics and Propagation is involved in research into the regeneration of endangered rare trees. On this behalf, it is producing saplings commercially for various companies. As part of this, Bengaluru has entered into an MoU with a commercial tissue culture company, Hu Gugle Biotech.

Through this agreement, tissue culture and production of three new varieties of teak are planned. IFGDP has developed micropropagation protocols for large-scale production of teak cultivars sourced from Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Also, Bangalore Hoo Gugle Biotech will carry out the work of commercial propagation of the saplings developed by IFGDP and making them easily available to the farmers. Sailesh Kataria, Chief Executive Officer of the tissue culture company, signed the agreement.
