New Delhi: The Ministry of Defense has said that various countries including the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and South Africa have expressed their interest in purchasing indigenously produced BrahMos missiles.

According to sources in the ministry, the central government has set a target of earning 41,500 crore rupees by exporting BrahMos missiles to those countries by 2025.

BrahMos missiles are designed to be launched from all types of war platforms such as submarines, warships, and warplanes. BrahMos is the world’s fastest supersonic missile.

About 28 feet long, 2 feet in diameter, and weighing 3,000 kg, this missile is capable of hitting targets at three times the speed of sound. In the last test, the missile flew 450 km and hit the target.

In this case, the Indian government has decided to start production of BrahMos hypersonic missile within the next five years. Also, research is being done to launch BrahMos missile through satellites.

Hence, there is competition among various countries to buy BrahMos supersonic missiles from India.

Among them, the Philippines has signed an agreement worth about 3,103 crore rupees with the Indian government. Based on that, BrahMos missiles are going to be sent to the country from next year.

Agreements with Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia are also expected to be signed soon. Through this initiative, the central government plans to achieve a revenue target of Rs 41,500 crore within the next three years.

Meanwhile, sources in the Ministry of Defense say that many countries have expressed interest in buying India’s Akash missile.
