The state is expanding the scope of its equipment with electric vehicles – and also raising the budget threshold for the new equipment. This is according to documents distributed this week by the Ministry of Finance among car importers.
The scope of the state’s equipment is not large: in total, the State of Israel requests to be equipped with 22 electric cars from the fifth licensing group (NIS 170-210 thousand) and five electric cars from the sixth licensing group (NIS 210-314 thousand). However, in any case, the new price definition allows some electric models to enter the country’s vehicle fleets for the first time. As usual, the electric vehicles that the state will equip (along with vans and minivans) will be used by the Government Vehicle Administration, the Israel Police and security units.
According to the main documents submitted to the car importers, the state sets uniform conditions for those who will supply it with dozens of electric cars: a three-year warranty, a five-year warranty or 160,000 km for the battery – with the option of extending the battery warranty for another 40,000 km or a year. The state also states that the electric vehicles that will be supplied to it will have to meet certain conditions that will be part of the selection considerations for the winner – such as the possibility of DC charging with a capacity of 90 kWh.
The electric cars that will be included in group 5 (sedan or off-road vehicle) will be required to present a minimum driving range of 380 kilometers – and also include the option of being supplied in white, in favor of operational vehicles. Interestingly, the requirement for cars in group 6 is for a lower range – over 340 kilometers between charges. According to state documents, the equipping of the cars is expected to begin next year.
