Bangkok ∙ Syro-Malabar Church Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar George Alencheri said that the Catholic Congress Global Meet, which was attended by representatives from 40 countries of the world, is carrying out a historic mission and will create new dimensions for lay participation in the Church. He was inaugurating the Global Nazarene General Meeting held in Bangkok under the leadership of the Catholic Congress.
In the church all are equal and ministers of Christ. This is the time to fully embrace the love of Christ and move forward together. It requires community members from all over the world to unite under one roof. Arrogance and pride will disintegrate the church. We must build the church and the community with love, forgiveness and Christianity.
The Synodality proposed by the Pope will be implemented more effectively in the Syro-Malabar Church. Strong lay participation at various levels of the Church will be ensured. The Cardinal said that the Church Synod will discuss new changes to make the laity listen. He reminded that the Catholic Congress has the responsibility to bring together and lead the various organizations of the Church.
