Colombia qualified for FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup finals. Colombia qualified for the final after defeating Nigeria 6-5 in the penalty shootout in the semi-finals. Colombia became the first South American country to enter the finals of the FIFA Women’s Under-17 World Cup. In the semi-final at the Nehru Stadium, the two teams ended in a goalless draw at the scheduled time.
Gabriela Rodriguez, Stefania Perlaza, Marie Espitaleta, Linda Caicedo, Juana Ortegon and Natalia Hernandez scored for Colombia in the shootout, while Muñoz lost. Edet Ofiong, Eddiong Etim, Miracle Usani, Taiwo Afolabi and Shakirat Oyinlola were on target for the Nigerian side. Edafe’s shot bounced off the post.
Colombia will face the winner of the other semi-final between Germany and Spain in Sunday’s final in Mumbai.
