The Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Maloney, told the Italian Parliament that the only way to enable the establishment of a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine is to help Kiev defend itself militarily. “Peace can be achieved by supporting Ukraine, this is the only chance for both sides to negotiate,” she explained. As mentioned, she repeatedly promised to support Kiev, while her allies – Silvio Berlusconi and Matteo Salvini, were much more ambivalent on the issue, due to their ties to President Putin.
