Kabul: Afghanistan is the least safe country in the world. Uncontrollable human rights abuses have been reported from Afghanistan since the Taliban took over. The war-torn country now tops the list of the least safe countries, according to Gallup’s Law and Order Index report.

The survey has evaluated about 120 countries based on the safety of citizens. Afghanistan has been ranked as the ‘least peaceful’ country in the world by the Global Peace Index for the past five years. Meanwhile, the ‘gain’ of being a less secure country. Singapore has been found to be the safest country. Singapore’s score is 96.

The survey examines how safe the citizens of the country feel and whether people are victims of theft or assault. Afghanistan’s score is 43. After the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, there was a general feeling among people that they could not walk safely at night. Since the Taliban seized power last year, human rights violations have increased nationwide.

Acts of terrorism, murders, blasts, attacks, constant human rights violations, killing of civilians, destruction of places of worship, attacks on women and incitement of terror in the region have become a regular occurrence.
The Taliban have dismantled mechanisms to combat gender-based violence, denied women access to health care, shut down women’s aid initiatives, and consistently attacked women’s rights activists. It is estimated that 59 percent of the country’s human rights are being violated.
