Infinity Ward reveals Modern Warfare 2 launch changes after beta

by time news

Infinity Ward has rolled out some changes to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 in response to comments from the game’s beta build ahead of its launch later this week.

in Posted on the studio websiteThe team divided several categories of changes, including audio, user interface, and movement. Most of these changes come from multiplayer feedback, but they will apply to the story campaign as well.

All field upgrades in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

The full list of changes reads as follows:

see the enemy

  • We added diamond icons above the heads of enemies. This should allow players to clearly identify their opponents in the game.
  • In addition, we continued to adjust lighting and contrast to improve enemy visibility.

My voice

  • We’ve shortened the general range of steps, which will allow enemy players to get close to targets before they can detect footsteps. We’ve also continued to tweak the sound of teammates’ footsteps, which will now be quieter based on feedback from the beta.
  • The volume range of activating sound effects in the world to upgrade Dead Silence field has been greatly reduced.

absentee form

  • Following the beta observations, the sight will now remain in the third person view of the lower magnification optics. Only high-zoom optics (starting with ACOG and up) and special optics like hybrids and thermostats will return to the first person perspective. We think this will improve the third person experience while keeping the gameplay balanced. Feedback on this mode has been very positive, and we will continue to explore its use as a modifier.

arms

  • We’ve continued weapon tuning throughout the game by tracking both beta player feedback and game data. Players can expect more details about weapon tuning as we continue to support post-launch.

user interface

  • We’ve worked hard on several updates to our user interface that make accessing and customizing your gear much smoother. We’ve made improvements to the menu navigation and will continue to improve our user experience.

a movement

  • The slide, rim suspension and dive have been further improved. We’ve also fixed some motion exploits after the beta release.

link

  • We’ve implemented changes aimed at reducing lobby breakup between matches. Looking forward to testing this out extensively and getting feedback.
