This morning the Israeli government finally approved the gas agreement with the state of Lebanon at a special government meeting. For many months, Israel has been negotiating with Lebanon in order to reach agreements on the maritime border line between the countries – something that will lead to a solution to the issue of the potential gas reservoir “Kana-Sidon” and its division.

Lebanese President Michel Aoun has already signed the document confirming the American proposal, which will be submitted at the signing ceremony at the southernmost border point in Lebanon in the town of Nakura. An Air Force helicopter will fly the Israeli delegation and with it the signed agreement to Nakura. The delegation will include the director general of the Ministry of Energy Lior Shilat, Avivit Bar Ilan of the MLA, the head of the political formation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aliza Ben Nun, the representative of the strategic division in the IDF and the representative of the legal advisor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who accompanied the negotiations.

According to the agreement, Lebanon will receive the area of ​​the reservoir, part of which is in Israel, into its sovereign territory and Israel will receive compensation of approximately 17% of the potential reservoir’s profits. Yesterday a company started
